We’re here to guide you through the process of getting your powerchair funded by Medicare. Below are the steps we’ll take together from start to finish.

Step 1: Referral from Your Doctor

Your Primary Care Provider (PCP) will send a referral to us along with your supporting diagnosis and medical documentation.
➡️ Purpose: To confirm that a powerchair is medically necessary.

Step 2: Eligibility Verification

Our team will check your Medicare coverage to confirm you meet the eligibility requirements for a powerchair.
➡️ Purpose: To make sure Medicare will cover the equipment before moving forward.

Step 3: Home Assessment

A Rehabilitation Technology Supplier (RTS) and Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) will visit your home to perform a home assessment.
➡️ Purpose: To ensure the powerchair fits and functions safely in your home.

Step 4: Clinical Evaluation

You’ll meet with a Therapist (PT/OT) or a provider specializing in DME/CRT (Durable Medical Equipment / Complex Rehab Technology).
➡️ Purpose: To complete your mobility evaluation, measurements, and medical justification for Medicare.

Step 5: Pre-Authorization Submission

Once all documentation and evaluations are complete, our billing team will submit a pre-authorization request to Medicare.
🕒 Estimated Time: Up to 30 days for Medicare approval.

Step 6: Ordering the Powerchair

After approval, we’ll place the order with our supplier.
🕒 Estimated Time: Up to 30 days for all parts to arrive at our NuSolutions warehouse.

Step 7: Assembly & Quality Check

Once all parts are received, our technicians will assemble and test your powerchair to ensure everything functions perfectly.
🕒 Estimated Time: Approximately 2 weeks.

Step 8: Delivery

After assembly is complete, we’ll contact you to schedule delivery of your new powerchair.
🕒 Estimated Time: Usually within 1 week of assembly.

⚠️ Important Note About Timelines

Our goal is to complete the entire process within 10 weeks. However, please understand that delays can occur due to factors outside of our control — such as supplier backorders, Medicare processing delays, or scheduling availability. In some cases, this may add an additional 4–8 weeks to the total process time.
